Attorney General Seal

The Attorney General is the chief lawyer and law enforcement officer of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In addition, the Attorney General is an advocate and resource for the Commonwealth and its residents in many areas, including protecting consumers, combating fraud and corruption, protecting civil rights, and promoting meaningful economic recovery.

The main office of the Attorney General is located in Boston. Regional offices are located in Western, Central and Southeastern Massachusetts, allowing residents statewide access to services and information.

The Office of the Attorney General is organized into six Bureaus: Executive; Criminal; Energy and Environment; Government; Health Care and Fair Competition and Public Protection and Advocacy. Each bureau is divided into divisions and teams. These Bureaus and Divisions have distinct missions, but work closely together to ensure the Attorney General’s Office provides the highest level of public protection.

Notice Posting Locations for State Public Bodies / Attorney General's Division of Open Government

Each public body in Massachusetts has a single, official location where it must post all meeting notices. The official notice posting locations are listed below in three spreadsheets corresponding to the types of public bodies: local, regional/district/county, and state. The spreadsheets are organized alphabetically and are searchable.

State Public Bodies: Each state public body must post its notices on a website, and must notify the Attorney General of the website in writing. Each state public body must also file a copy of each notice with the regulations division of the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s Office. G.L. c. 30A, § 20(c).

For more information about notice posting requirements, please consult the Notice section of the Open Meeting Law Guide, pages 8-10. If you believe any information in these spreadsheets to be incorrect or outdated, please contact the Division of Open Government at (617) 963-2540 or OpenMeeting@State.MA.US.

Due to functionality limitations with the Commonwealth’s recent website update, the columns in the table auto-fit to the width below. We have raised this issue with the Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS) and hope to improve the functionality as soon as possible. To see the full text in each cell, click and drag the edge of the column header to the desired width. Alternatively, you may download the Notice Posting Method spreadsheet and view it in Excel.
